Co Happiness

New training tools to prevent child abuse and promote safer communities

After almost three years of dedicated work the partners of Co-Happiness: Happy and Safe in the Community project from six European countries (The Netherlands, Portugal, Finland, Greece, Italy, and Romania), are proud to present the innovative materials developed to promote prevention of child abuse and maltreatment on the one hand and foster children’s critical thinking about individual abuse and violence on the other. The main project outputs include:

Co-Happiness  Game –  Happy on a Mission

The game “Happy on a Mission” aims to provide a learning environment where the user (child) acquires the ability to understand inadequate behavior and openly start talking about it. The professional (teacher/educator) who is accompanying the child is supported to identify signals that may reveal potential situations of abuse and maltreatment. It’s a single-player adventure game, deployed through three environments (home, school, outdoors), with integrated situations where the player navigates the main character and goes through a variety of tasks trying to complete the game.

Overview Report on Social Capital and Collective Efficacy Approaches to Prevent Child Abuse and Maltreatment

The Overview Report contains brief national context information and identified existing successful interventions that prevent child abuse and maltreatment through social capital and collective efficacy approaches in the partner countries – The Netherlands, Romania, Portugal, Italy, Greece and Finland.

Training Curricula On Community Prevention and Awareness on Child Abuse and Maltreatment

The Training Curricula aims at empowering educators and actors of the community to take action in order to prevent child maltreatment and make communities more resilient and safer for children. It includes a general description; objectives; learning outcomes; description of generic and optional components of the course content, learning hours, teaching and learning methods, assessment methods

Training Programme to Prevent Child Abuse and Maltreatment

The Training Program presents the developments of the Co-Happiness project that aim at creating methodologies to foster children’s critical thinking about individual abuse and violence. The purpose of the program is also to prepare and give recommendations to educators and parents on how to accompany children when playing the game ‘Happy on a Mission’.

Resource Guide

The Resource Guide aims to support the usage of all developed resources: the training for community actors, the training programme for game application, and the game itself. It guides the user through the implementation process, providing guidelines, key success factors, checklists to consider, case studies for delivering of community interventions and support with playing the blended-learning game.
