COFACE-Families Europe is a network promoting the well-being, health and security of all families.
COFACE-Families Europe, formely known as COFACE (the Confederation of Family Organisations in the European Union), brings together a large number of civil society organisations with the aim of giving a voice to all families and representing the issues most important to them at the European level.
With 59 member organisations in 23 countries of the European Union, COFACE-Families Europe monitors closely the implementation of family and social policies in the Member States, and formulates together joint policy objectives at European level.
COFACE-Families Europe advocates policies of non-discrimination and equal opportunities between persons and between family forms, and specifically supports policies aimed at increasing equality between women and men, with a special focus on reconciliation policies between work, care and family life.
COFACE works towards a family friendly environment, enabling all families and their members to benefit from sufficient financial resources, available quality services and adequate time arrangements in order to live and enjoy their family life in dignity and harmony.
COFACE was originally founded in 1958. Since then, it has been linking together family organisations from all over Europe to discuss and work on issues such as family and social policies, work-life balance, migrant families, family carers, disability issues, safer internet, parenting, consumers’ protection, improving childcare and health services, the impact of the economic crisis on families and the needs of the most vulnerable families.
