Within the framework of its project co-funded by the European Commission under the programme "Europe for citizens: Promotion of Active European Citizenship ", COFACE organised the conference “Families speak up for Active European Citizenship” on June 4th, 2008 in the premises of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) in Brussels. Participants received the conclusions and recommendations of the 8 one-day workshops staged by COFACE member organisations on topics as varied as work-life balance, men’s role in the family, families and the EU, migrant families, intimate partner violence, families with dependents (elderly and disabled people).

The project consisted in helping eight COFACE member organisations to each organise a Study Day on various themes, all having in common a threefold dimension: Family – Citizenship – Europe.
