European Schoolnet (host organisation of Insafe), together with Liberty Global, has launched an animation aimed at educating parents on children's safety online: The Digital Universe of Your Children. View it here:
The three-minute animation tackles the parental concern of ‘Who are your kids talking to online?’, providing practical tips for parents to help their children stay safe. At the end of the animation, eight informative tip sheets give practical advice on how to deal with a variety of issues that youngsters might encounter online, including: Privacy on social networks, Online gaming, Blocking, Risks online, Online friends, Meeting strangers, Personal information, and Online reputation.
The animation is supported by the European Commission and COFACE. Speaking of the resource, Agnes Uhereczky, COFACE Director, said: "All over Europe, parents worry about their children being online. They worry about the time they spend online, the content they are viewing, the risks they may be exposed to…"
The ‘Digital Universe of Your Children’ covers all the basics to reassure and empower parents with regard to their children's activities online. It busts a few common myths and provides external links to practical tools and information about specific topics to help parents strengthen their digital parenting skills.
