In many European countries, especially in capital cities, access to accommodation, which is one of fundamental rights, becomes a luxury that poor families cannot afford. As accommodation makes family life possible European Union should cope with the crisis responding to the following main objectives:

• Guarantee a diversified supply of accommodation, allowing all families to have access to housing regardless of their income.
• Setting up a coherent housing policy in order to respond to the needs of underprivileged families.

COFACE wishes also that European families have access to quality accommodation corresponding to common security standards.
