NewsSeptember – SDG COnference

German organization AGF co-organises SDG conference “A sustainable future for all – both in urban and rural areas”

The global population is growing continuously and, at the same time, a growing percentage of it chooses to live in urban areas. Cities are meant to be centres of high technology, globalisation hubs and of socio-economic opportunities. As a result of this movement the urban areas expand, city and country begin to form a continuum with transitional areas and settlements of various sizes. Rural areas are emptied accordingly.
To discuss this phenomenon the conference “A sustainable future for all – both in urban and rural areas” in Berlin gathered various SDGs where these questions were tackled: How can we build a sustainable future for people both in urban and rural areas? What are the major recommendations for sustainable development in municipalities? What are the main challenges resulting therefrom for politics?
Politicians from different levels were present to discuss, along with the questions above, conflict lines, innovative approaches and the scope for action for politics and civil society. Programme and more information here.
