Parents Association “Step by Step” from Zagreb, Croatia launched a campaign “#React to violence every time and prevent it next time!” to raise awareness and interest in eliminating all forms of violence to and between children. The campaign ran in the period from 15th to 20th November 2017 since that is the period of important dates for promoting children’s rights and welfare.
Step by Step each year runs a campaign to raise awareness about importance of child abuse prevention, but this year special focus was on children with any kind of difficulties or disabilities. In that manner, the partner in the campaign was “Association of the deaf and hard of hearing of the City of Zagreb”. Members of their youth section recorded 3 video clips in sign language about violence prevention, especially for those with disabilities. Activities of the campaign were published on Facebook Pages of Step by Step and Feniks-Club for deaf youth in the form of info graphics, video clips and statistics about child abuse.
The campaign was very successful, and “Step by Step” is always happy to contribute in this way to promotion of the UN High Time to end violence against children campaign, also as a part of actions to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 16: “Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels”.
