The general policy objective of this initiative (launched on 26th April 2017) is to address women’s under-representation in the labour market and to promote equality between men and women with regard to labour market opportunities. This will allow parents with children or workers with dependent relatives to better balance caring and professional responsibilities. The initiative includes a legislative proposal with measures on paternity leave, parental leave, and carers leave, as well as flexible work arrangements, which aims to set minimum standards across EU countries.
COFACE Families Europe is examining the legislative proposal and will publish its assessment in June. In the meantime, the European Commission welcomes any citizen feedback on the legislative proposal. Have your say!
The Commission will present a summary of the feedback received to the Parliament and Council. Click here to send your feedback.
