Women for Women celebrated on 15 May the International Day of Families with the 4th edition of their Family Day Festival in Prague. Nowadays it is not always easy for parents to offer their children the fun and entertainment they want, as many activities come with a cost. Therefore, W4W created a day full of fun (sport activities, creative workshops, face painting etc.) for all kind of families free of charge.
W4W supports one-parent families through practical projects, but also highlight topics that need to be addressed. Their most famous project is Lunch for Children, but they also implement a unique project of Supported Living (two years housing support, legal and psychosocial help) and a variety of educational projects (The Bridge, The Career Bridge, Parenting).
In September 2013 they launched a nationwide project called LUNCH FOR KIDS. It promotes the well-being of children in need and a healthy development of the society. LUNCH FOR KIDS is designed to support children whose families find themselves in so difficult social situations that they cannot afford to pay for their children’s school catering. Inspired by a TV coverage about starving children in Czech schools, the organisation developed and launched a system of funding school catering for selected schoolchildren. The project receives support both from the founding organisation Women for Women and from individual and corporate donors who send contributions to a dedicated transparent bank account. Within the last four years, the project also enjoyed considerable financial assistance from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.
